Saudi Arabia to Host World Energy Conference 2026
In October 2026, Saudi Arabia will host the 27th World Energy Conference . This event will take place in Riyadh, from the 26th to the 29th. The Riyadh Front Centre, located at the capital’s heart, will serve as the venue.
Competitive Bidding Process
As reported by the Saudi Press Agency “SPA”, Saudi Arabia secured the hosting rights following a highly competitive bidding process involving offers from various members of the national committees of the Council, comprising over 70 members representing more than 3,000 organizations from the entire energy system.
Saudi Energy Minister’s Statement
On this occasion, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman expressed pleasure in hosting the 2026 World Energy Congress in Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the event’s importance in the global energy sector.
Originating a century ago, the World Energy Congress is a pivotal gathering for energy leaders worldwide. It unites stakeholders from both producer and consumer nations.
Saudi Arabia is committed to aligning the Congress’s goals with its Vision 2030. The Minister assured participants of a top-notch conference, enhanced by Saudi hospitality.
World Energy Council Leaders’ Comments
Mike Howard, President of the Leaders’ Council of the World Energy Council, commented, “Saudi Arabia’s bid clearly showcased its strategic vision for the World Energy Congress, including strong institutional and governmental support.
The 27th edition will celebrate the heritage of this event along with the Kingdom’s strategic vision for the future of energy in today’s changing world.”
General Secretary’s Congratulatory Message
The General Secretary and CEO of the World Energy Council, Dr. Angela Wilkinson, congratulated Saudi Arabia on its successful bid to host the 27th edition of the World Energy Congress, adding, “While energy transitions are of utmost importance, they should not be the sole responsibility of the energy sector.
Collaboration across all energy sectors is required, and this is what the Congress excels at. The wise leadership of the Kingdom and the global community of the World Energy Congress will ensure that energy leaders worldwide work towards faster, fairer, and more far-reaching energy transitions.”
World Energy Congress Details
According to SPA, the World Energy Congress brings together over 150 executive speakers. More than 250 speakers, 70 ministers, and over 7,000 international stakeholders in the energy sector.
The conference connects sectors, geographic regions, and systems to achieve a more equitable energy transition.
Future Hosting, Transition to Biennial Congress
The report also mentioned that Saudi Arabia will become the official host of the World Energy Congress after the 26th edition in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Saudi Arabia will organize a pavilion at this important event. The frequency of the Congress will change to a biennial event after the April 2024 conference.
