Saudi Arabia is set to host the “Donor Conference to Support Displaced Persons and Refugees in the Sahel and Lake Chad Region” in Jeddah on 26 October this year, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
This conference, scheduled at the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to humanitarian aid globally.
Support for Crisis-Affected Communities
Saudi Arabia’s leading role in supporting crisis-affected communities worldwide aligns with its ongoing dedication to international humanitarian relief efforts. Donor contributions from the conference will provide essential necessities and alleviate the suffering of IDPs and refugees in the region.
In July, the Kingdom assisted Chad through KSrelief, distributing 1,200 food parcels in the Beheira region, benefiting 7,200 individuals. This aid project aimed to enhance food security in Chad for the year 2024.
In June, the KSrelief delivered to Chad a125 tons of dates in addition to other countries including Comoros and Tanzania.
Collaborative Humanitarian Initiatives
last year, KSrelief signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) . Furthermore, the agreement, valued at 4 million US dollars, provides shelter assistance to refugees and displaced persons in countries like Chad, Sudan and South Sudan.
