
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, met with South Sudan’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Atong Kuol Juuk, to explore new avenues for strengthening cooperation in the industrial and mining sectors. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 11th Ministerial Conference of Least Developed Countries (LDCMC11) in Riyadh.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed opportunities to enhance bilateral industrial and mining ties. They also examined how South Sudan could benefit from Saudi Arabia’s expertise in developing and operating smart industrial cities and expanding the food processing industry. Further topics included potential collaboration in mining and mineral development to support the resilience of global supply chains.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, Eng. Khalil Ibn Salamah, South Sudan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mayom Alier, and several other officials from both countries.

The talks took place alongside LDCMC11, organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
Finally, the conference aims to improve access to finance, encourage knowledge and technology exchange, stimulate trade, and support the integration of Least Developed Countries into regional and global value chains.
