Saudi Arabia Denounces Drone Assault on Kuwait from Iraq

Saudi Arabia on Saturday condemned the targeting of Kuwaiti border posts by drones that originated from the territory of Iraq, following a military report from Kuwait describing an aggressive violation of their national sovereignty and geographical borders.

Kuwait’s military reported on Friday that two drones coming from the direction of Iraq struck border posts on the frontier. The impact caused significant structural damage to the facilities, although the strikes resulted in no human casualties or physical injuries.

Saudi Arabia’s Diplomatic Stance

“The Kingdom stresses its categorical rejection of the violation of the sovereignty of states and the attempt to threaten the region.” The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs further emphasized the importance of the Iraqi government dealing with these specific threats to Gulf states. Consequently, Riyadh demands that Baghdad takes full responsibility for preventing future incursions that jeopardize the stability of neighboring brotherly nations.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia expressed unwavering solidarity with the brotherly State of Kuwait, including its respected government and its resilient people. The Kingdom reiterated its full support for all measures the Kuwaiti government takes to maintain its security and regional stability.

Rising Regional Instability

The United States and Israel began launching attacks on Iran on 28 February, which triggered a massive wave of retaliation, as Tehran responded by striking both Israel and various United States military bases located within the wider Gulf region.

Unfortunately, these events have dragged Iraq into the conflict because pro-Iran groups launch frequent attacks from its sovereign soil. These militias continue to target Gulf countries, forcing regional leaders to coordinate their defense strategies against these escalating drone threats.
