In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack in Mogadishu, which resulted in the death and injury of tens of people.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia affirmed “its position of rejecting violence, extremism, and targeting civilians,” according to the Foreign Ministry’s statement.

The Kingdom also asserted its support for the government and people of Somalia in this incident. “The Kingdom expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the government and the people of Somalia, and wishes those injured a speed recovery,” the statement said.
Late on Friday, an explosion at a beach restaurant in the Somali capital Mogadishu killed at least 37 people and wounded 212, reported Reuters. The Somali government blamed the attack on the extremist al-Shabaab group.
According to the police spokesperson, one of the attackers blew himself up while security forces killed three others and arrested one alive.
This was the deadliest attack in Somalia since the twin car bombs explosion near a busy market intersection in October 2022, which claimed the lives of at least 100 people and injured 300 others.
Al-Shabaab movement controlled large swathes of Somalia but counteroffensives launched by the government since 2022 have largely diminished the group’s power. However, al-Shabaab still has the capability to launch attacks against government, commercial and military targets.
