Saudi Arabia Braces for Thunderstorms from Sunday to Thursday

Saudi General Directorate of Civil Defense has urged the public to be cautious as thunderstorms are anticipated to hit most regions of the Kingdom from Sunday through Thursday, according to the Saudi Gazette.

Makkah region is expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall, which could trigger flash floods and hail and dust storms, particularly in Allith, Al-Qunfudhah, Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is forecast for Jeddah, Bahrah, Khulais, Rabigh, Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Turabah, Al-Mawayh, and Al-Khurmah.

Moreover, the Riyadh region is anticipated to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, as well as flash flooding, hail, and dust storms across several areas, including Riyadh, Rumah, Al-Majma’ah, Al-Zulfi, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, Thadiq, Huraymila, Marat, Dhurma, Afeef, Ad-Dawadmi, Al-Quway’iyah, Ar-Rayn, Al-Hariq, Al-Muzahmiyah, Al-Dilam, Hawtat Bani Tamim, and Al-Kharj.

As for Al-Aflaj, Wadi Al-Dawasir, and Al-Sulayyil, they will witness light to moderate rain.

Several regions across the Kingdom, including the Eastern Province, Hail, Qassim, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, Tabuk, Madinah, Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan, are anticipated to see moderate to heavy rainfall, with the possibility of flash floods and hail.

In contrast, Najran is forecast to witness light to moderate rain.

Therefore, the authorities has urged the public to follow official updates and drive with caution during periods of heavy rain and low visibility.

Meanwhile, they advised citizens to abide by safety guidance outlined by civil defense authorities.
