The Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, has honored Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, with the King Abdulaziz Medal of the First Class, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
In a ceremony on Sunday, Prince Khalid presented the Medal to the Pakistani Army Chief, upon the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The honoring came in recognition of Field Marshal Munir’s outstanding efforts in solidifying the Saudi-Pakistani friendship, strengthening joint cooperation, and advancing bilateral relations.
Moreover, the Saudi Defense Minister congratulated Munir on his appointment as the Pakistani Army Chief, wishing him success.
During the reception, both sides reviewed the historical relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, as well as the strategic defense cooperation between the two countries.
Furthermore, they discussed efforts to promote international security and peace, and issues of mutual interest.
The reception saw the attendance of several senior officials from both sides. From Saudi Arabia, Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and senior defense officials attended the ceremony.
The Pakistani Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, in addition to senior military officials including Major General Muhammad Jawad Tariq and Brigadier General Mohsin Javed, attended the reception.
