Israeli FM Encourages Jews in Western Countries to Move to Israel

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Sunday urged Jews in Western countries to move and live in Israel as an attempt to encounter growing antisemitism, according to AFP.

Saar’s remarks came on the heels of an attack that killed 15 at a Jewish event in Sydney.

“Jews have the right to live in safety everywhere. But we see and fully understand what is happening, and we have a certain historical experience. Today, Jews are being hunted across the world,” Saar said.

Since the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Israeli leaders have consistently condemned an increase in antisemitism in Western countries and accused their governments of failing to control it.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday called on Western governments to better protect their Jewish citizens from any possible attacks.

“I demand that Western governments do what is necessary to fight antisemitism and provide the required safety and security for Jewish communities worldwide,” Netanyahu said in a video address.

Moreover, Saar accused British authorities in October of not curbing a “toxic wave of antisemitism” after an attack outside a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur. The attack killed two people and wounded four.
