Beijing announced on Monday that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit China this week, as part of both sides’ efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation, according to Arab News.
“Russia’s Foreign minister Lavrov will pay an official visit to China from April 14 to 15,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun told a news conference.
During the visit, Lavrov will hold talks with China’s top diplomat Wang Yi, during which the two sides will exchange views and coordinate positions on the development of bilateral relations.
The talks will also delve into cooperation across various fields, as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern.
Moreover, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two ministers would discuss the war in Ukraine as well as developments in the Middle East.
On April, Wang held a call with Lavrov, during which the two agreed that Beijing and Moscow would collaborate together to play a role in de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Beijing and Moscow maintain close political and economic relations. Their partnership has further strengthened since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
