Makkah Pavilion Showcases Rare Photos at Jusoor Exhibition

Jusoor Exhibition has captured the attention of several visitors through the ‘Makkah Throughout History’ pavilion, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in Pristina, Kosovo, the exhibition seeks to boost Islamic values and highlights the Kingdom’s pioneering role in preserving and documenting historic mosques.

The pavilion features rare photographs and visual documents for the Grand Mosque tackling its historical stages and the Kingdom’s ongoing care for the holy site throughout the ages.

Furthermore, the pavilion showcases a fine selection of significant photographs, such as the first colored picture of the Grand Mosque from 1951, as well as an old photograph of King Abdulaziz beside the Holy Kaaba in 1945.

Among these photos are a photograph documenting the laying of the foundation stone for the major expansion of the Grand Mosque during the reign of King Fahd in 1409 AH, and the oldest documented view of the illuminated courtyard of the Kaaba dating back to 1368 AH.

The pavilion also displays a photograph of the Zamzam Well taken in 1403 AH and an archival footage of Hajj and Umrah journeys in the past decades.
