Madinah Takes Part in Quality of Life and UN Habitat programs

The Madinah Region Development Authority (MRDA) has participated in the “Quality of Life Initiative to Accelerate the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals”, held at UN headquarters in New York from July 8 to 18, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Organized by the Quality of Life Program, the event is one of the promising initiatives designed under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030 and the UN Human Settlements Program.

Themed “Confronting Challenges to Accelerate the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” the session marked the attendance of Nava Guerrero, the mayor of Queretaro, Mexico, and Abdulrahman bin Hassan Ibrahim, executive director of data and innovation at the MRDA.

Ibrahim reviewed Madinah’s efforts in localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its selection among the first five cities in the Global Initiative for the Quality of Life Index.

Madinah secured the gold level in the SDG Cities program by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat). This makes Madinah the first Saudi city, the first in the Arab world, and the third globally to obtain this recognition.
