KKU Rises to Advanced Levels in 2025 Shanghai Academic Subject Rankings

King Khalid University has achieved significant progress in the 2025 Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, with multiple disciplines earning advanced global positions. These accomplishments highlight the university’s ongoing development in scientific research and its expanding role in supporting the Aseer Region’s development strategy, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the university’s own 2030 strategic framework.
The university ranked within the 101–150 range worldwide in both mathematics and energy engineering and science, and placed in the 151–200 range for metallurgical engineering. It also maintained its position within the 201–300 range across several fields, including civil, mechanical, and chemical engineering; instrumentation and measurement science and engineering; pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences; dentistry and oral sciences; agricultural sciences; veterinary sciences; and water resources.
Additionally, King Khalid University ranked in the 301–400 range for materials science and engineering, and in the 401–500 range for chemistry and electrical and electronic engineering.
Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Hamed bin Majdou’ Al-Qarni, emphasized that the university’s advancement reflects the strength of its academic and research ecosystem and its ability to produce innovative research projects that address community needs and national priorities.
Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, Supervisor of the International Rankings Unit, noted that the university employs a scientific and data-informed approach to tracking performance indicators, which continues to enhance its global visibility and improve its performance in international rankings.
