King Salman Science Oasis Signs MoU with UK Science Museum Group

The Supervisor General of King Salman Science Oasis (KSSO), Dr. Khalid bin Abdul Qader Taher, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Director and Chief Executive of the Science Museum Group (SMG) in London, Ian Blatchford.

Present at the signing ceremony were Dr. Naif Al-Zari, Director General of Education in Riyadh, and Hani Mansi, Deputy Secretary-General of Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Supervisor General of KSSO said that the MoU aims to bring and localize the techniques of managing science museums. It also aims to develop exhibits, and benefit from the expertise and knowledge of the Science Museum Group in this field.

He confirmed that King Salman Science Oasis, through its expertise that extends over 30 years, developed many programs and events that have benefited thousands of visitors, in person and online.

According to Taher, the KSSO has cooperated with international science centers through its membership of the Association of Science and Technology Centers, that brings it together with major science centers, such as the Science Museum Group in London.

The KSSO designs its science programs to incorporate science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) in an integrated way to develop capabilities, provide training on problem solving, enhance creativity and innovation skills.

Located in Riyadh, the KSSO was co-founded by the Riyadh foundation for science and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). It aims to combine education and entertainment in science in an innovative way. Its primary role is to promote scientific literacy and environmental awareness in Saudi Arabia.
