KAUST Launches Groundbreaking TIE Master's Program

The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has introduced a pioneering Master of Science degree program in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE), according to Saudi Press Agency.

This 16-month course, the first of its kind in the Middle East, aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and KAUST’s new strategic direction. It is set to welcome its inaugural cohort in August 2024.

Program Overview

The TIE program will develop essential skills in creativity, problem-solving, and practical experience.

Moreover, its curriculum blends core courses, diverse electives, a summer internship, and focused product development. Consequently, this approach aims to turn scientific research into practical, profitable innovations.

Shenzhen Connection: Unique Internship Experience

A key feature of the TIE program is a six-month internship in Shenzhen, China, often referred to as the “Silicon Valley” of China. This internship offers students an immersive experience in a major hub of technology, manufacturing, and research.

Here, students will have the opportunity to work with incubators and startup founders, thereby broadening their entrepreneurial perspectives.

The KAUST campus offers a rich and inclusive community environment, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities. These include the Prototyping and Product Development Core Lab and labs specializing in robotics, embedded systems, sensors, autonomous systems, and biotechnology.
