Under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Jazan Region, the “Jazan Winter Season 25” commenced with a grand ceremony on Friday evening. The event, themed “Humanity of Jazan,” took place at the Winter Ship Theater on Jazan’s picturesque waterfront. This year’s festival aims to blend art, culture, and tourism in a harmonious celebration.
A Rich History of Cultural Celebrations
Engineer Yahya Al-Ghazwani, Secretary of the Jazan Region and General Supervisor of the Season, delivered a speech highlighting the festival’s evolution. Initiated in 2008 under the title “Jazan Al-Ful, Winter Resort for All,” the festival has undergone several transformations. In 2022, it was rebranded as “These Are Our Days,” followed by “Most Beautiful and Warmest” from 2023 to 2024. The 17th edition this year has emerged as a competitive model in both quantity and quality. It features over 300 diverse events across Jazan City and its provinces, highlighting the region’s cultural richness and tourism potential. Collaborations with government bodies, the private sector, and local communities have shaped a calendar aimed at attracting nearly three million visitors.
The opening ceremony included poetic recitations by renowned poets Issa Jaraba and Ibrahim Al-Ghazwani, reflecting the region’s rich literary tradition. Folk art teams presented performances representing Jazan’s mountainous, coastal, and Tihami environments, showcasing the area’s cultural diversity. A musical piece titled “Human of Jazan” and orchestral performances added to the event’s cultural richness.
Committing to Sustainable Tourism and Economic Growth
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prince Mohammed bin Nasser honored the participating and supporting entities for their contributions. He reiterated Jazan’s commitment to establishing a sustainable tourism industry in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. The festival plays a pivotal role in diversifying the economy and expanding income sources.
The Prince highlighted Jazan’s natural resources, scenic attractions, and skilled local workforce as key elements of this strategy.
