This progress is particularly notable as the Kingdom celebrates Foundation Day, reflecting on how it has adopted cutting-edge global technologies through the efforts of highly skilled professionals.

The Kingdom has consistently aimed for comprehensive information security. Over recent years, it also has adopted numerous technical policies and practices in this field. Efforts have also been made to educate individuals, bodies, and institutions about information security and its protection and development.

Digital Transformation and Its Impact

A rapid digital transformation has occurred in both public and private sectors in Saudi Arabia. This transformation aims to enhance the digital economy and drive it forward. With a population of 35 million, 99% of whom use the internet daily, the need for data and information security has become increasingly apparent.

Cyber Piracy, Information Security Protection

The global estimated losses from cyber piracy reached approximately $8.4 trillion in 2022, with projections suggesting this could rise to about $24 trillion by 2027. Cyber piracy is thus considered the fourth global risk, necessitating efforts in information and cybersecurity.

Vision 2030 and Digital Transformation

Vision 2030 clearly shows Saudi Arabia’s commitment to heavily investing in digital transformation to achieve an effective digital economy system.

One of the prominent non-profit organizations in this field is the “Hemaya” Information Security Association. It has significantly contributed to the safety sector in the Kingdom by enhancing awareness of cyber space risks and building capability development programs.

SADAIA’s Role

Consequently, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SADAIA) has a dedicated information security management division. This division focuses on securing institutions and supporting cybersecurity systems, adhering to international standards, policies, and security procedures. SADAIA regularly conducts penetration testing on its systems, applies two-factor authentication for accessing its websites, and ensures enhanced security in data protection.

SADAIA emphasizes the importance of information security in the context of Saudi Arabia’s recent digital transformation.
