A delegation from Harvard University has toured Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Historic District, as part of an official visit aimed at exploring the area’s rich cultural and architectural heritage, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

In order to learn about the Saudi Culture Ministry’s initiatives under the Jeddah Historic District Program, the Harvard delegation embarked on a field tour through the alleys of Historic Jeddah – also known as Al-Balad, visiting key landmarks, historic buildings, and traditional markets.

During the tour, the delegation explored the ongoing restoration and rehabilitation efforts to preserve the district’s distinctive architectural tapestry while reigniting its cultural and social vibrancy.

The visit underscores a growing interest from international universities in Historic Jeddah as a vibrant urban site that uniquely blends authenticity with modernity.

It also highlights the district’s status as a premier hub for cultural and intellectual exchange, advancing Saudi Vision 2030 of a vibrant society that celebrates its heritage and shares its culture with the world.

Moreover, the visit aligns with the Saudi Culture Ministry‘s efforts to transform Historic Jeddah into a global platform for creativity and knowledge, through strategic initiatives that support tangible and intangible heritage.

These initiatives also contribute to achieving the objectives of Vision 2030 by establishing culture as a fundamental pillar of social and economic life and enhancing the Kingdom’s status as a leading international heritage and cultural destination.
