Assistant Finance Minister Joins G7 Session on Sidelines of 2026 IMF-WBG Spring Meetings

Assistant Finance Minister Abdullah BinZaraah took part in a G7 Finance Outreach Session titled “New International Partnerships: the Case of Critical Minerals,” held alongside the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington.
During the session, he stressed that Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) need to shift their role from simply funding individual projects to building integrated ecosystems. This includes supporting early-stage exploration, attracting private investment through innovative financing tools, and fostering sustainable, long-term industrial development in resource-producing countries.

He also underscored that MDBs cannot achieve this transformation on their own. Instead, he noted that G7 countries play a crucial role by driving demand through reliable offtake agreements, promoting open trade, and aligning industrial policies.
