The General Department of Traffic has issued a reminder: only 10 days remain to pay discounted traffic fines. This grace period, initiated by a royal decree and enforced by the Ministry of Interior, offers a significant 50% discount. However, offenders must act quickly to avoid missing out.
The discount applies to all traffic violations committed before 18 April, 2024. Offenders can pay their fines in a lump sum or separately for each violation. This opportunity allows drivers to settle their fines at half the original cost, but they must do so before April 18, 2025. However, after this date, fines will revert to their full value.
Extension of Grace Period
In October 2024, the Ministry of Interior extended the grace period for an additional six months. This extension, directed by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to provide more time for offenders to benefit from the reduction. The new deadline is fast approaching, so prompt action is crucial.
However, committing any of four specific violations during this period will disqualify offenders from the discount. These violations include drifting, driving under the influence of drugs or banned substances, and exceeding speed limits by more than 50 km/h on roads with a 120 km/h limit or by more than 30 km/h on roads with a 140 km/h limit. Offenders must avoid these actions to remain eligible for the discount.
The department urges all concerned individuals to take advantage of this opportunity. Pay your discounted fines before the deadline to avoid higher penalties. Act now and ensure compliance with traffic regulations to maintain eligibility for the discount.
