President of Eritrea Isaias Afwerki arrived in Jeddah on December 12 at King Abdulaziz International Airport, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Upon his arrival, the president was welcomed by Makkah Region Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Jeddah Mayor Saleh Al-Turki, as well as Director of Makkah Region Police, Major General Saleh Al-Jabri.
The Eritrean Consul General in Jeddah, Abdulrahman Othman Saeed, and the Director General of the Royal Protocol Office in the Makkah Region, Ahmed bin Thafir, have also received the president.
Saudi Arabia and Eritrea maintain strong relations, security cooperation and economic partnership.
In recent years, the two countries have boosted their relations through high-level visits, maritime security initiatives, and investment projects.
