Saudi Crown Prince Meets Eritrean President, UN Secretary-General in Riyadh
The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, held separate meetings on Wednesday with the Eritrean President, Isaias Afwerki, and the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, in Riyadh, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The President of Eritrea arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, on a four-day working visit, upon the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Eritrean Ministry of Information said in a statement.

Afwerki’s meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other senior officials focuses on enhancing bilateral ties and strengthening partnership and cooperation, according to the statement.
The two leaders’ talks also discuss the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest, the statement added.
The Saudi Crown Prince also received the UN chief, who is on a regional tour that includes Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Oman. Guterres arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday. His discussions with the Crown Prince aim to address a number of pressing regional issues.
Guterres will return again to Saudi Arabia’s capital to take part in the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, taking place on December 14-15, 2025 in Riyadh to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Alliance of Civilizations, the UN said in a statement.
