Deputy Governor of Medina Inaugurates Industry, Local Content Medinah Forum
His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Khalid, Deputy Governor of the Medina Region, inaugurated the “Industry and Local Content Medina Forum.” The event was attended by officials and experts from various sectors.
Organized by the Medina Chamber over three days from December 19 to 21, the forum took place at the King Salman International Convention Center in Medina. It witnessed several agreements between participating entities, enriching local content and enhancing Medina’s contribution to the national economy.
Local Content Electronic Platform
During the ceremony, his Highness launched the “Local Content Electronic Platform.” This platform enables companies and institutions in the Medina region to register and compete for proposed projects. It aims to enhance the role of local content in the region’s economic development.
His Highness also viewed a visual presentation covering the forum’s themes, participants, and the region’s potential benefits from implementing its recommendations and decisions.
Signature of Agreements
The Deputy Governor witnessed the signing of several agreements, including memoranda of understanding between the Medina Chamber and various entities. These include agreements with the Saudi Contractors Authority, Rua AlMadinah Holding, Madinah Knowledge Economic Company, and others. Notable contracts include the completion of Al-Hijra Towers and the establishment of Madinah Heritage Company’s factory.
His Highness also honored the winners of the SABIC Entrepreneurship Award 2022-2023. Moreover, he honored Rua AlMadinah Holding, Madinah Knowledge Economic Company and others.
Forum’s Areas of Discussion
The forum discussed challenges facing different sectors in Medina, ways to implement local content concepts, and the localization of national industries. It aimed to enhance the competitiveness of goods and products, activate national investment opportunities, and attract local and foreign investments. Moreover, the forum included workshops by 25 experts and specialists, focusing on supporting content, partnership opportunities, contributions of small and medium enterprises in the industrial sector, preference for local content in operations and procurement, among other topics.
