The American actress Angelina Jolie arrived at the Rafah border crossing on Egypt’s frontier on Friday to show her solidarity with the humanitarian plight of Gazans, according to Al Arabiya.
As a longtime advocate for global relief efforts, Jolie met with injured Palestinians evacuated from the Gaza Strip and observed the fragile flow of aid into the besieged enclave.
At Rafah, Jolie was joined by a U.S. State Department envoy, the Governor of Northern Sinai, and Egypt’s Immigration Minister.
This highlights the visit’s pivotal role in wider international humanitarian coordination and in supporting Egyptian‑American efforts to ensure the flow of aid.
Jolie also visited the Egyptian Red Crescent’s logistics center in Al-Arish Governorate and participated in packing a humanitarian aid box bound for Gaza, a symbolic gesture underscoring solidarity with the enclave’s civilians and reaffirming international backing for ongoing relief efforts.
During the visit, she expressed her profound gratitude for Egypt’s institutions, civil society, and the Egyptian Red Crescent for their relief efforts.
The actress also praised the crucial role of volunteers and aid workers who continue to efficiently and professionally manage and deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza despite immense challenges.
For two years, Gazans have suffered catastrophic conditions under Israel’s war that killed more than 70,000 people and devastated vast swathes of infrastructure.
To help contain this humanitarian crisis, Egypt has taken in large numbers of refugees from Gaza through the Rafah Crossing.
