Alternative Crossings

The Rafah border crossing is the primary gateway for people and goods traveling between Gaza and Egypt, and it plays a vital role in the economic and social life of the area.

However, due to political tensions and security concerns, the Rafah crossing is often closed or heavily restricted. In light of these challenges, there have been increasing calls for the establishment of alternative crossings for Rafah.

To ensure the success of these other crossings, meticulous coordination with pertinent parties will be necessary.

Human Crisis

Al-Rabiah emphasized the significance of differentiating between humanitarian supplies going to the West Bank from that passing to the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, he stressed that the residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from a humanitarian crisis.

Therefore, Saudi Arabia reacts to the real need of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip based on its humanitarian responsibility.

So, KSA works in coordination with Jordan to implement another aid program for residents of the West Bank.

Challenges that impede aid access

Crossing the border between Egypt and Gaza was not easy in light of the ban and the unstable security situation. The aid had to travel about 50 kilometers to reach another crossing. But Israel controls it, and aid convoys are subjected to inspections and delays that may reach days.

In addition, they face the challenges of weather, road difficulties, food and storage conditions.
