Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, emphasized the crucial role of the transport and logistics sector in developing the industrial and mining sectors.

AlKhorayef highlighted its importance in establishing Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub, aligning with the “Saudi Vision 2030″. The integration of industrial cities in Riyadh and the Eastern region with the railway network is seen as a key step in enhancing of industrial logistics. This move aims to open new trade and export routes.
Strengthening Partnerships, Enhancing Supply Chains
During a speech at a signing ceremony for memoranda of understanding and several investment contracts between “MODON” and the Saudi Railway Company “SAR“, supported by the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program “NIDLP”, Al-Khorayef stressed the significance of the NIDLP.
He pointed out its vital role in maximizing benefits across four sectors: industry, mining, energy, and logistics.
Moreover, rail transport is considered among the most cost-effective means regarding cost and environmental impact.
MoUs to Enhance Industrial, Transport Systems Integration
The signed memoranda aim to promote integration and partnership between the industrial and transport systems.
This also includes enhancing trade lines and benefiting from the industrial establishments in Jubail Industrial City that rely on SABIC products and iron products in Jubail.
Expanding the Logistics, Supply Chain Capabilities
The memoranda between “MODON” and “SAR” seek to utilize the integrative capabilities and shared expertise in various cooperation areas.
This includes connecting the new logistics area, spanning one million square meters planned in the second industrial city of Dammam. Consequently, the goal is to empower the industrial sector’s supply chains in the central and eastern regions, easing product access to local, regional, and global markets.
Additionally, the agreements include establishing frameworks for partnership to create a passenger transport station in Sudair City for Industry and Businesses.
Finally, this aims to align with the city’s investment and development movement, increase the passenger trains’ capacity to new destinations.
