KSA Foreign Min. Receives Phone Call from US Counterpart
Today, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, KSA Foreign Affairs minister, received a call from his US Counterpart , Mr. Anthony Blinken. During the call, they discussed KSA – US Relationship and other topics related to Gaza Strip.
They also discussed region developments, most notably the developments in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings.
They talked about the efforts made to deal with its security and humanitarian repercussions.
KSA – US Relationship
The relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States is complex and multifaceted. Both countries having a long history of cooperation and mutual interests. In addition, the two countries have a strategic partnership that is based on shared security concerns, economic ties, and diplomatic relations.
The U.S. and KSA have a longstanding security relationship. KSA is the US largest foreign military sales (FMS) customer, with more than $100 billion in active FMS cases.
However, the relationship between the two countries has also faced challenges, particularly in the areas of human rights and democracy. US has at times been critical of KSA’s human rights record and its involvement in the war in Yemen.
Economic and Trade Cooperation
The US and KSA enjoy a strong economic relationship. The US is KSA’s second largest trading partner, and Saudi Arabia is one of the United States’ largest trading partners in the Middle East. KSA is the third leading source of imported oil for the US. The trade relationship between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has long revolved around two central concepts: security and oil.
Furthermore, Both countries have also worked together on a range of issues, including counterterrorism, energy security, and regional security.
