"SAR" signs contract to Buy 10 Passenger Trains — Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and Guy Parmelin signed a contract between Saudi Railways (SAR) and Stadler to purchase 10 modern passenger trains.

Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and Guy Parmelin signed a contract between Saudi Railways (SAR) and Stadler to purchase 10 modern trains. Both sides were represented during the signing.

SAR was represented by its CEO Dr. Bashar bin Khalid Al Malik and Stadler was represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Peter Spühler.

Moreover, Engineer Al-Jasser explained that the purchase of these modern passenger trains comes in response to the increasing demand for east train passenger services. The new trains will contribute to doubling the annual capacity of orient trains to reach more than 3.8 million passengers annually.

Kingdom’s Vision 2030

In addition, these modern trains will be part of the railway network. They are part of the initiatives of the national transport and logistics strategy to improve life quality. It will also help to create new public transportation routes around the Kingdom.

Also Al-Jasser pointed out that the wise leadership has provided the transportation and logistics system with significant and boundless support. It also allowed the sector to fulfill its service and development projects and initiatives in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Conversely, Dr. Bashar bin Khaled Al-Malik, the CEO of Saudi Railways (SAR), emphasized the new trains’ significant contribution to the company’s modernization and development. He reaffirmed SAR’s dedication to its leading national role.

He said: “Today we are experiencing a comprehensive development renaissance and a sustainable strategic transformation in the railway transport sector.

Additionally, these modern trains represent an effective tool for improving the SAR services provided to the Kingdom’s residents and visitors. The new trains will serve the entire operational scope of the orient Railway network by increasing the seat capacity of one train.”
