US Strikes Kill 38 in Yemen Fuel Port Attack: Houthis

US strikes on Yemen’s Ras Issa fuel port killed at least 38 workers and injured over 100, Houthi rebels reported Friday. Al-Masirah TV aired footage of raging fires engulfing the facility, with health officials in Hodeida confirming the toll, with survivors describing chaotic scenes as explosions lit the night sky.

The US military confirmed targeting Ras Issa to disrupt Houthi supply chains and revenue streams. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated the Iran-backed group exploits fuel profits to fund regional terrorism. Despite US terrorist designation earlier this year, ships allegedly continued supplying fuel through the port.

Houthis Link Attacks to Gaza War

Houthi rebels claim their Red Sea shipping assaults began in solidarity with Palestinians after Israel’s Gaza offensive. While attacks paused during a recent ceasefire, threats resumed as Israel blocked aid to Gaza in March. On Friday, Houthis launched a missile toward Israel, triggering sirens in multiple areas.

Houthi maritime strikes have slashed Suez Canal traffic by 12%, forcing lengthy detours around Africa. US President Trump vowed sustained military action until the threat ends. Meanwhile, France’s navy intercepted a Yemeni drone in the Red Sea, reaffirming regional security efforts.

China Accused of Aiding Houthi Operations

The US State Department accused China’s Chang Guang Satellite Technology of sharing imagery with Houthis, enabling attacks on US interests. Spokeswoman Tammy Bruce criticized Beijing’s inaction despite private talks, calling it a failure to uphold peace pledges.

As US strikes intensify under Trump, Houthi leaders warn of prolonged conflict. With Gaza’s ceasefire collapsing and global trade routes destabilized, Yemen’s crisis risks spiraling into broader regional turmoil. Analysts urge diplomatic solutions to prevent further civilian suffering.
