Aramco Digital Partners with Groq to Establish World’s Largest Inferencing Data Center in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco Digital Company has partnered with Groq, a leader in AI inference and creator of the Language Processing Unit (LPU), to establish the largest inferencing data center worldwide in Saudi Arabia, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Strategic Move

The partnership represents a strategic move accelerating the Kingdom’s digital transformation initiatives and strengthening its position as a global leader in AI and cloud computing.

The inferencing data center will play a pivotal and effective role in fulfilling Aramco Digital’s vision in line with Saudi Vision 2030, through making full use of advanced technologies and leading the operational excellence.

Interestingly, the new cooperation will offer an exceptional combination between Groq’s cutting-edge AI and ML infrastructure and Aramco Digital’s strategic goals.

Thus, Aramco Digital will revolutionize data processing and analytics across various sectors in the Kingdom.

Ambitious Goals

By the end of 2024, the center will be able to onboard hundreds of thousands of developers in the region and process billions of tokens.

“That’s going to be enough to support neighboring continents that allow us to support parts of Europe, parts of Africa, maybe even a little bit of India,” Jonathan Ross, CEO and founder of Groq, said.

Furthermore, the facility will onboard hundreds of billions of tokens per day with millions of developers by 2025, marking a new industry standard.

“When we get to a billion tokens … it’s going to turn the Kingdom into a net exporter of compute that will be able to reach about 4 billion people from this country,” Ross added.

Our collaboration with Groq aligns directly with Vision 2030, promoting the localization of advanced technologies, driving innovation, enhancing sustainability, and reinforcing digital excellence within the Kingdom,” Amin added.

Strong Presence in Saudi Arabia

Ross noted that Groq has an unparalleled processing power and scalability accessible to anyone, making it a key contributor to the global AI ecosystem.

“Securing our first and largest local presence within Saudi Arabia ensures that Groq will remain at the center of the leading AI hub in the region,” Ross added.

The Groq’s CEO also commended Saudi Arabia’s visionary leadership and strategic location describing the Kingdom as “an ideal platform for Groq to achieve its goal of meeting half of the world’s AI inference needs.”
