Madinah Book Fair Uses Interactive Maps to Enrich Visitors Experience
The third Madinah book fair organized by the General Authority for Literature, Publishing, and Translation is experiencing a high turnout of visitors.
The visitors are keen to explore the publications of the different publishing houses through the interactive maps which are similar to GPS navigation systems. These maps have been installed throughout the fairgrounds so visitors can locate publishers and authors and can also navigate all areas of the fair by scanning quick response (QR) codes on their devices.
The interactive touch-enabled maps throughout the exhibition use advanced technology. It enable visitors to search for specific publishers and access detailed information, including their names, booth numbers, distance, and estimated travel time.
Mohammed Alwan, CEO of the commission said “the fair aims to foster “a culture of reading and showcase Saudi writers and creators while attracting prominent writers and publishers from around the world.”
Additionally, the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs is demonstrating its electronic applications through smart devices, allowing visitors to experience Hajj and Umrah virtually using 3D technology at the ministry’s booth.
The fair takes place daily until Aug. 5 at the King Salman International Convention and Exhibition Center from 2 p.m. until midnight.
