Saudi, Moroccan Ministers Sign Executive Program for Renewable Energy Cooperation

Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met in Riyadh with Dr. Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco, to discuss areas of mutual interest, including renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Following the meeting, the two ministers signed an executive program to enhance cooperation in renewable energy under the memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation signed between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Morocco in May 2022. The program enables national companies from both countries to jointly develop and implement renewable energy projects.

The executive program aims to strengthen bilateral partnership and expand mutual investment, supporting collaboration on renewable energy initiatives in both countries as well as in third markets. It promotes cooperation across renewable power generation, energy storage, grid integration, electricity transmission, and grid development.

In addition, the program supports the integration of renewable energy into development and infrastructure projects, the delivery of renewable energy–based solutions, and the establishment of research and training centers to advance technology development, capacity building, and knowledge transfer in the renewable energy sector.
