1.2 Million Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia for Hajj Season

Approximately one million 200 thousand pilgrims from various countries around the world arrived in Saudi Arabia for Hajj season, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah said.

The minister affirmed that all stages of the pilgrims’ journey were completed easily and comfortably and that they are all healthy and satisfied, thanks to the unlimited support of the Saudi leadership and the sincere efforts of the heroes involved in the system of serving the pilgrims.

He explained, in a government press conference held on Thursday in Riyadh that Saudi Arabia, since its founding, has been honored to serve the pilgrims. The Saudi leadership pays great attention to facilitating the arrival of pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques and the holy sites, to perform the rituals easily.

The minister stressed the need for all pilgrims to adhere to the instructions.

The minister said that the Program for Serving the pilgrims established the Hajj Project Management Office (Hajj PMO), which completed its work this year in coordination with more than 50 government bodies to follow up more than 300 plans in 2,600 landmarks.

Hajj Season Preparations

Saudi Arabia has been ramping up efforts to prepare for hajj season and provide all services that would facilitate hajj for pilgrims.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services unveiled the installation of the flexible rubber asphalt in pedestrian walkways in the holy sites, designed for the first time in Hajj 2024, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

In collaboration with various entities, the General Authority for Roads has installed the innovative technology on the road parallel to pedestrian road No. 6 leading to Jabal al-Rahmah in Arafat in order to safeguard the pilgrims’ health in this season.

Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has prepared more than 27 thousand buses to serve the pilgrims during Hajj season, reported Al Arabiya.

3,500 buses of the 27,000 have been allocated for transporting pilgrims to and from Masjid Al-Haram (The Holy Mosque) through more than 16 routes and more than 11 stops and stations, according to the authority.

355 buses have been allocated for public transportation in Mecca, as well as more than 27 buses in Al-Madinah to provide efficient transportation services that meet the needs of the pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia is using modern and innovative technologies in the transportation and logistics system. These technologies include self-driving vehicles to deliver orders within the Holy Sites, as well as self-driving refrigerated vehicles for last-mile delivery in Mecca and the Holy Sites.
