Trump Confirms Visit to Saudi Arabia in First Foreign Trip

The US President, Donald Trump, on Monday confirmed that Saudi Arabia will be the destination of the first foreign trip of his second term.

Speaking to reporters in the White House’s Oval Office, Trump said: “It could be next month, maybe a little later,” adding that he has “very good relations with the Middle East.”

Moreover, Trump praised the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman. “He is great,” he said, referring to the Saudi Crown Prince.

The US President revealed that his visit will focus on sealing investment agreements worth $1 trillion with US companies, which will create jobs for Americans.

Trump also noted that his Middle East trip will include stops at the UAE and Qatar.

Earlier, Axios reported that Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia will take place in mid-May. Riyadh was also the destination of Trump’s first overseas trip in his first term.

Saudi Arabia has played a pivotal role in peace talks involving the US, Russia and Ukraine. The Kingdom has hosted three rounds of negotiations between American, Russian and Ukrainian officials to discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine.

In February 2025, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, reiterated that bolstering relations with Saudi Arabia is a key priority to Trump administration.

“Strengthening this key relationship is a top priority for the Trump Administration, especially when it comes to working towards our shared interests across the Middle East,” he wrote on X, after a meeting with the Saudi Defense Minister, Khalid bin Salman, in Washington.
