The US President, Donald Trump, and the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, expressed their gratitude to the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, for his role in hosting the peace talks between the US and Russia in Riyadh.
On Thursday, the Saudi Crown Prince received a phone call from Russia’s President Putin, who extended his gratitude and appreciation to Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for hosting the productive talks between Russia and the US.
Furthermore, both leaders hailed the deeply-rooted ties between Saudi Arabia and Russia and explored ways to further enhance them across various fields, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
On his part, the Saudi Crown Prince underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to making every effort to establish peace and security worldwide, in line with its belief that dialogue is the only path for resolving international conflicts.
On Wednesday, Trump also thanked Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for facilitating the landmark US-Russia talks in Riyadh.
Speaking at the opening of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute in Miami, the US President said that Saudi Arabia did a “great job” in hosting the negotiations. He commended the efforts of the Saudi Crown Prince in this regard, according to Al-Arabiya News.
“But in particular, we have to thank [Crown] Prince Mohammed bin Salman for hosting these historic talks that went very, very well,” Trump said.
On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Riyadh hosted a high-level meeting between US and Russian diplomats, upon the directives of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to promote international peace and security.
The peace talks aimed to set the stage for a Trump-Putin summit, in order to restore ties between both countries and end the conflict in Ukraine.
