Trump Claims Iran Breakthrough as US Sends 15-Point Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations to end the war with Iran during a White House briefing on Tuesday, as Washington reportedly sent Tehran a comprehensive 15-point settlement proposal to halt hostilities and stabilize the volatile Middle East region.

Trump told reporters that the United States is currently talking to “the right people” to reach a final deal. He noted that the Iranians want a resolution very badly, despite Tehran’s official claims that no direct talks occurred. “We’re in negotiations right now,” Trump confirmed, citing a major concession from Iran regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Waterway Access and Energy Shocks

The Iranian government recently informed the United Nations that non-hostile vessels may transit the waterway with proper local coordination. This development follows a four-week blockade that triggered the worst energy supply shock in history and sent global prices soaring. Trump described this shift as a “very big present” and praised the move as a “very nice thing” for stability.

Reports from Israel’s Channel 12 suggest the US seeks a month-long ceasefire to discuss the 15-point peace plan effectively. This proposal likely requires Iran to dismantle its nuclear program and cease support for various regional proxy groups immediately. Consequently, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a central pillar of the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the nations.

Military Buildup and Mediation

While diplomacy continues, the US military is preparing to deploy thousands of elite soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division. These forces will join the 50,000 troops already stationed in the region to maintain a massive military buildup there. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered to host conclusive talks to achieve a meaningful and permanent comprehensive settlement soon.

A Pakistani government source indicated that discussions for a high-level meeting have already reached an advanced and productive stage. Furthermore, this potential summit could occur within a week if both parties agree to the specific terms of the invitation. The conflict initially escalated on February 28 when the US and Israel launched strikes following a breakdown in nuclear talks.
