Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser inaugurated the operations center of UPS’s authorized service contractor at King Khalid International Airport’s Cargo Village in Riyadh.
The launch ceremony was attended by Acting President of the Transport General Authority (TGA) Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, alongside senior leaders from the logistics sector.
The newly opened center serves as a state-of-the-art gateway for air cargo, providing a specialized facility for processing air shipments and handling customs clearance for goods and parcels. It strengthens the Kingdom’s direct connectivity to UPS’s global network through daily cargo flights.
Vision 2030, Economic Growth
During the inauguration, Al-Jasser emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s transport and logistics ecosystem continues to expand the economic impact and service capacity of the logistics and air cargo sector. He noted that these developments support economic growth and reinforce Riyadh’s position as a global logistics hub, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The minister highlighted that the increasing presence of major international logistics companies in Riyadh as operational hubs enhances overall logistics performance and strengthens sector competitiveness. He also added that this expansion has improved efficiency in the Kingdom’s air cargo industry, which recorded a 34% growth last year, reaching 1.2 million tons.
Advancing Trade, Diversification
Al-Jasser also noted that the sector’s growth supports import and export activities and advances economic diversification goals under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
The operations center is managed by UPS’s authorized service contractor in Saudi Arabia, Eirad Trading & Contracting Co. Ltd. Additionally, the facility spans 10,000 square meters within the new Cargo Village and is designed to streamline shipment processing, customs procedures, and parcel clearance.
Equipped with advanced technologies, the center can process more than 3,000 parcels per hour, with capacity for further expansion later this year. Finally, the facility is expected to meet growing demand for air and ground cargo services across Saudi Arabia, reduce transit times, and enhance shipment tracking and customs clearance efficiency.
