
The Ministry of Tourism announced that the Kingdom achieved a growth in spending by inbound visitors during the first half of 2024, reaching approximately 92.6 billion riyals, an increase of 8.2% compared to the first half of 2023. Additionally, the Kingdom recorded a surplus in the travel sector estimated at around 41.6 billion riyals.

The increase in spending by visitors coming to the Kingdom from abroad comes as part of a series of significant leaps witnessed by the tourism sector. The Kingdom topped the list of G20 countries in terms of growth rate of international visitor numbers and the growth rate of international tourism revenues for the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2019, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

The released data confirmed the effectiveness of the efforts made by the tourism system to position the sector as a global leader. This is being achieved through the implementation of best practices in tourism development, enhancement of tourism services and products, and continuous collaboration with all government entities to support the development of the tourism sector in the Kingdom.

This achievement reflects the extent of the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism and the other entities within the Saudi tourism system to enhance the tourism sector and its contribution to the growth of the national economy. This comes as part of the National Tourism Development Strategy.
