Saudi Investors Push for Joint Funds to Revitalize Egyptian Tourism

Saudi investors have proposed creating investment funds to develop tourist destinations and projects across Egypt. This initiative includes contributions from both public and private financing institutions from Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The plan also calls for allocating Egyptian airports to enhance the experience for international visitors.

Key Meeting Between Tourism Leaders

The proposal was made during a meeting between Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, and Saudi private sector representatives at the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC). The meeting was organized by the Saudi-Egyptian Business Council.

“The opportunities for collaboration in tourism between Saudi Arabia and Egypt are vast. We need to address logistical challenges,” Minister Fathy said. He praised Saudi Arabia’s advanced tourism system and called for increased cooperation between the two countries’ tourism sectors.

Incentives for Tourism Investment

Minister Fathy revealed that Egypt is developing an investment map aimed at attracting tourism investments. This includes offering incentives such as faster approval processes and reduced fees. He emphasized that Egypt’s tourism resources remain largely untapped and could position the country as a leader in tourism diversity.

He also encouraged Saudi investors to manage Egyptian archaeological sites and explore opportunities in yacht tourism, which could further boost cooperation.

Strengthening Economic Ties

Bandar Al-Ameri, chairman of the Saudi-Egyptian Business Council, highlighted the economic importance of collaboration between the two countries. He noted that investments in Egypt’s tourism sector offer significant advantages and expects to see unprecedented cooperation, particularly in hospitality and tourism.

Both sides expressed hope that these talks will increase Saudi investments in Egypt, which currently stand at $32 billion. These investments play a crucial role in supporting the Egyptian economy.

Vision 2030 and Tourism Growth

Saudi Arabia has a long history of investing in Egypt and views the country’s recovering economy as a promising opportunity. As part of its Vision 2030 strategy, Saudi Arabia plans to diversify its economy and invest heavily in emerging sectors such as tourism. This shift aims to reduce the Kingdom’s reliance on the oil industry and drive growth in other areas.
