The first Saudi anime movie is arriving in theatres

After a long wait, the film Al Rehla, The Journey, the first Saudi animated film with 4DX technology and production in collaboration with the Japanese government, will be released in Saudi cinemas.

The Saudi Fox Cinema Group revealed the film is scheduled for Thursday, 17 June, and the tickets booking will be announced soon.

Unprecedented creative vision

The Fox Cinema Group’s official Twitter page promoted the poster following the message: “The picture is chock-full of historical fantasy incidents, and it has an unprecedented artistic vision! On 17 June, Fox Cinemas Saudi Arabia will show ‘Al Rehla’.”

Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of the General Authority for Entertainment, also shared the poster on Twitter along with a link to the show’s details and a thank you message to the film’s creators.

“I’m proud to be a Saudi and an anime fan. This film is the first Saudi-Japanese collaborative production and with the famous Toei Studio,” he wrote.

Japanese ambassador, Fu Mio Iwai, tweeted a reply to Al-Sheikh: “I am delighted with this cooperation between the Japanese company Toei and the manga company for this joint anime movie, and I look forward to watching it soon.”
