The Crown Prince Camel Festival kicks off in Taif
The third edition of the Crown Prince Camel Festival starts Sunday, at the Taif Governorate Camel Race Course, under the patronage of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The festival allocated financial prizes that are considered among the highest prizes in sports races, with a total value of 53 million riyals, with hundreds of the most famous local, Arab and international camel owners competing for it.
The race is divided into two “preliminary and final” stages, with a total of 532 runs. The festival has also allocated one million riyals for the Crown Prince’s Sword, which will be won by the owner of the camel with the most points in the general runs of the festival.
Preliminary stage
According to the Saudi Press Agency “SPA”, the preliminary stage of the festival begins with 320 rounds, with the participation of all age groups of camels, and lasts for 11 days.
It Followed by the marathon runs, which are 8 runs, and will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 AD, and on Thursday, September 2, 2021 AD, the final stage will start with 204 runs.

The Crown Prince Camel Festival has also succeeded in enhancing the civilized and national aspects and has contributed to achieving great cultural and economic returns. Since its inception, it has achieved several achievements, including setting world records in the Guinness Book of Records,
In mid-2019, the festival succeeded in achieving a record in the Guinness Book of Records, after obtaining the largest camel sports festival in the world, when 13,377 camels were registered to participate in camel races for the second edition.
The festival enjoys great support and attention from Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, for the camel sector and its development.
The Crown Prince Camel Festival seeks to consolidate the heritage of camel racing and promote it in Saudi, Arab and Islamic culture.
