Thailand Embassy Joins Afforestation Efforts in Aba Samri Park
The Thai Embassy in Riyadh participated in afforestation efforts by organizing a voluntary tree-planting activity in Aba Samrah National Park, located in Marat Governorate in the Riyadh region.
This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification as part of the National Afforestation Season. The campaign also aims to support afforestation efforts, enhance vegetation cover, and reduce land degradation by planting local and suitable vegetation.
The Thai Embassy’s initiative aligns with afforestation efforts and responds to the center’s campaigns encouraging various sectors to contribute to vegetation development. Moreover, these efforts aim to improve air quality, reduce dust and sandstorms, and restore vital environmental functions, contributing to the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative.
National Afforestation Season
The National Afforestation Season targets achieving the objectives of the National Afforestation Program by fostering partnerships with public and private sectors, as well as non-profit organizations. It also seeks to promote a culture of volunteering among individuals and institutions and raise awareness about the importance of afforestation in combating land desertification.
The center is dedicated to protecting, restoring, and ensuring the sustainability of vegetation sites, emphasizing their critical role in maintaining the balance and vitality of natural ecosystems. Key responsibilities include raising public awareness about the importance of preserving vegetation and addressing major challenges such as forest fires and harmful practices like illegal logging and unregulated grazing, which threaten the environment.
