Saudi TGA Inaugurates 1st Public Bus Line in Farasan Island

The Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) has inaugurated a new public transportation project in Farasan Island, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

On Saturday, the Governor of Farasan Island, Abdullah bin Mohamed Al-Dhafiri; the Supervisor-General of the Passenger Transport Sector at the TGA, Rayan bin Talal Al-Hazmi; Assistant Secretary of Jazan Region, Ibrahim Kariri; and representatives of the Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) launched the new bus public transport project in Farasan Island.

The new bus project in Farasan Island is part of the larger bus public transportation project in Jazan Region, including Jazan, Sabya, and Abu Arish. The project involves 9 lines, and works over 18 hours a day. It extends over 360 kilometers, and includes 47 buses, 94 stops, and 94 drivers.

The TGA seeks to provide public transportation projects across Saudi Arabia’s cities and governorates through 14 operational projects and 5 approved projects. It aims to expand public transport projects, in line with the objectives of the TGA to forge partnerships with relevant entities.

This also aligns with the ambitious Vision 2030, which aims to provide multiple transportation options that enhance the quality of life, create new jobs, and raise the levels of safety and security for individuals.

Saudi Arabia has made bold strides towards enhancing its transportation network. In late November, the Kingdom inaugurated the Riyadh Metro Project, a revolutionary project that improves connectivity within the capital city, reduces congestion, and creates a more sustainable urban landscape.

Moreover, the Riyadh Metro Project is associated with a bus network designed to connect Riyadh’s districts with business and commercial centers.
