Saudi Students Secure Top Arab Place at World Robot Olympiad in Turkey
Saudi Arabia’s students have secured the first place among Arab countries and ninth globally at the World Robot Olympiad International Final.
Held in Izmir, Turkey from Nov. 26 to 30, the competition represented the debut of the Future Engineers category, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
With several participants of all ages from more than 90 countries, the competition concentrated on creativity in robotics and artificial intelligence.
The contest included various categories such as Robo Missions, Robo Sports, Innovators of the Future, and Future Engineers.
Therefore, the Kingdom has carefully selected 15 teams of 30 students from various regions, as well as 11 advisers and 15 trainers.
Al-Jawhara Al-Qahtani and Aseel Al-Jasser mentioned that their success was basically due to multiple months of work at a camp at Tuwaiq Academy.
In order to build the robot, both students employed artificial intelligence, machine learning, 3D printing, and sensors connected to camera and radar technologies.
Interestingly, the current success represents a collaborative effort between the Saudi Ministry of Education, the Saudi Federation for Robotics & RC Sports, Tuwaiq Academy, and Tatweer Education Holding Co.
