Saudi, Russian FMs discuss mediation offer for Ukrainian crisis
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday evening.
During the call, Prince Faisal reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for resolving the Ukrainian situation by peaceful, negotiated means, and discussed the prospects for doing so in light of the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense’s mediation plan.
During the call, they discussed the bilateral ties that bind the two countries, as well as methods to strengthen and consolidate those ties in all areas in order to further the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA,” Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed readiness to mediate, upon receiving a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the call, they discussed relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Russia and ways of enhancing them in various fields.
With regard to the crisis in Ukraine, the Saudi crown prince clarified the Kingdom’s stated position and support for efforts that lead to a political solution that leads to an end and achieves security and stability
