

Saudi ports achieved an increase in container handling during October 2023. It recorded a 5.31% rise to 741.91 thousand standard containers, compared to 704.49 thousand standard containers in the same month of 2022.
In October 2023, the General Authority for Ports reported a 9.72% increase in exported containers. It received 224.82 thousand containers, compared to 204.9 thousand containers in the same month of the previous year.
Imported containers also rose by 5.32%, reaching 226.97 thousand from 215.5 thousand in October 2022.
It was noted that transshipment containers saw an increase of 2.12% to reach 290.11 thousand containers compared to 284.08 thousand containers in October 2022.
However, the tonnage of foodstuffs in October 2023 decreased by 34.61% to 1.61 million tons, compared to 2.46 million tons in October 2022.
The ports under the authority received 59.81 thousand passengers, an increase of 35.11% over the corresponding month in 2022, which recorded 44.27 thousand passengers.
The ports also received 109.65 thousand vehicles, an increase of 17.13% compared to 93.61 thousand vehicles in the same period of the previous year.
Moreover, maritime traffic increased by 5.46% with about 1062 ships, compared to 1007 ships in October 2022.
