Jeddah Islamic Port Achieves Highest Monthly Handling
Jeddah Islamic Port achieved the highest monthly handling in its history during October 2023. 511,348 thousand standard containers docked at the port.
The port broke its July record , by handling 491,197 standard containers.
A number of joint projects and agreements were signed to improve the infrastructure and developing container terminals.
These projects included constructing new berths with greater design depths, deepening the approach channels, circulation basins and sea lanes
It further works on providing the berths with modern, automated, environmentally friendly equipment, in an effort to make Jeddah Islamic Port among the top ten ports worldwide.
The positive development highlights the sustained dedication of the Saudi Ports Authority towards enhancing the maritime transportation industry.
This initiative is part of the national body’s ambition to expand the handling capacity to 40 million standard containers and boost the Kingdom’s market share in regional transshipment to 45 percent by the year 2030.
This aim is in harmony with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy’s objectives, which are geared towards solidifying the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics nucleus.
Jeddah Islamic Port has further solidified its position as a premier port on the Red Sea Coast for transit maritime commerce. This accomplishment exceeds its earlier processing milestone of 491,197, set in July of this year.
