Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Aramco announced on Sunday the completion of a deal under which Saudi Aramco, through a wholly owned subsidiary, acquired a 49% stake in HUMAIN. PIF retains the remaining 51% of the artificial intelligence company.
As part of the transaction, Saudi Aramco will inject approximately SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash into HUMAIN during 2026, alongside AI, computing, and digital assets.
The investment is expected to accelerate HUMAIN’s growth and strengthen its ability to compete globally in artificial intelligence. PIF and Saudi Aramco will contribute AI-related assets, capabilities, and expertise to support the company’s expansion.
The deal reinforces HUMAIN’s ambition to build an integrated, competitive AI ecosystem across the full technology stack, from data centers and high-performance computing to advanced AI models and specialized applications. It also supports the company’s plan to expand its data-center capacity by 2030 and to develop solutions that enable wider AI adoption across the public and private sectors.
Talent, Investment
The transaction forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader push to develop and deploy advanced data and AI technologies while attracting skilled talent and investment.
PIF’s AI and digital-economy strategy draws on the Kingdom’s ambition to become a globally competitive technology hub through innovation and capability building. The partnership with Saudi Aramco in HUMAIN also aligns with PIF’s 2026–2030 strategy, which seeks to deepen integration across economic ecosystems, expand opportunities for the private sector, and accelerate the growth and global competitiveness of Saudi companies.
Saudi Aramco is expected to use HUMAIN’s AI infrastructure to turn advanced AI capabilities into industrial applications, strengthening its business ecosystem and worldwide operations. As a shareholder and strategic partner, Aramco and its subsidiaries will also gain access to HUMAIN’s infrastructure, AI solutions, and services.
The transaction is expected to create new revenue opportunities and improve profit margins, reinforcing Aramco’s investment in AI and digital assets while complementing its central role in the energy sector.
Private-Sector Partnerships
Yazeed bin Abdulrahman Al-Humaid, PIF’s Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments, said: “Unifying the AI assets of PIF and Aramco within HUMAIN will create integration that supports the growth of national talent, innovation, and intellectual property in AI. The transaction aligns with PIF’s strategic objectives and will help accelerate HUMAIN’s transformation into a global leader in the field. It will also reinforce AI’s role as an enabler of PIF’s six recently announced economic ecosystems, expand private-sector partnership opportunities, and accelerate the development of pioneering technologies in the Kingdom.”
Saudi Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser said: “There is no doubt that the HUMAIN transaction is highly significant for Aramco, given the company’s strong track record in innovation and technology. We are proud of the progress we have made in developing and deploying digital technologies and advanced AI to enhance performance across oil and gas. Since 2023, the value realized through technology at Aramco has reached SAR 42.4 billion, a substantial portion of which has come from technology solutions, particularly AI.”
He added: “This partnership with PIF will further cement Aramco’s global leadership in technology and AI, while laying the foundation for localizing the industry and deploying AI systems more rapidly, integratively, and at scale. AI will therefore play a decisive role in the future of business, and we are pleased to collaborate with PIF to help shape the future of AI regionally and globally.”
Launched in May 2025, HUMAIN is developing AI capabilities across four core areas: next-generation data centers, high-performance infrastructure, cloud computing, and advanced AI models, including Allam, one of the world’s most powerful large multimodal Arabic-language models, as well as innovative AI solutions.
The company is expanding rapidly to meet rising regional and global demand for AI computing. Its plans include developing AI data centers with 3 gigawatts of capacity by 2030, positioning HUMAIN as one of the world’s leading providers of AI solutions.
