Saudi Arabia’s non-profit sector witnessed a significant growth in the first half of 2024, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The National Center for Non-Profit Sector announced the registration of 46 new civil associations, 5 civil institutions, and 10 family funds during the last months starting 2024.
This outstanding achievement brought the total number of registered non-profit organizations to 4,942, with an increase in the number of volunteers reaching 105,000 individuals.
The center commended the non-profit organizations that collaborated with the Hajj and Umrah Ministry to facilitate the Hajj measures and rituals for almost two million pilgrims.
Furthermore, the center joined the Siqaya and Rifadah committees that was responsible for organizing and supervising non-profit activities in distributing water and food services in the holy sites.
The center confirmed its dedication to effectively implementing its regulations.
Therefore, it has recently issued strict measures against a number of non-profit organizations and individuals, including the following:
- A warning against a civil society organization
- A decision to dismiss the board of directors of a civil society organization
- Two decisions to reconstitute two temporary boards of directors
- A decision to cancel the license of a civil society organization
- Measures against organization in charge of two violations for collecting donations
The center emphasized the significance of the non-profit organizations’ commitment to the legal regulations and urged them not to use the charitable activities to achieve personal interests.
