The Ministry of Interior has stressed the importance of these guidelines. Violations can lead to imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of 3,000 riyals (approximately $800). These penalties highlight the seriousness of offenses against the national symbol.
Respect and Care for the Flag
In its statement, the ministry urged citizens and residents to adhere to these guidelines during National Day festivities. Here are specific points to remember:
Keep the flag clean and dry to prevent damage.
Display it upright and allow it to wave freely during celebrations.
Avoid using the flag to tie objects or carry items.
Do not place the flag on animals or engage in actions that could demean it.
The guidelines strictly forbid printing the flag on disposable materials.
Do not display the flag upside down or in a lowered position.
Ensure it does not touch the ground or water, and it must bear no slogans, except as permitted by law.
By following these guidelines, citizens can demonstrate respect for the national flag and celebrate Saudi Arabia’s National Day with dignity.
Public Order and Safety Warning
Meanwhile, Saudi authorities have warned that anyone disrupting public order during the festivities will face a fine of 5,000 riyals.
The Public Prosecution emphasized the importance of maintaining public decorum. This regulation aligns with existing laws that stress respecting public spaces and ensuring visitors’ safety.
The fine targets those whose actions or words in public may cause harm, fear, or danger to others. Repeated offenses will result in doubled fines, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining order.
