Saudi Minister of Interior Holds Talks with Italian Counterpart
Today, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the Interior, held an official discussion session with the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Italy, Matteo Piantedosi, at the Ministry’s office in Riyadh, reported Saudi Press Agency.
During the session, the two ministers discussed ways of enhancing paths of existing security cooperation between the Ministries of Interior of the two countries, in addition to discussing a number of topics of common interest.
The discussion session witnessed the signing of a cooperation plan for a number of initiatives and projects between the Ministries of the Interior of the two countries.
Deepening Ties with Gulf
Since October 2022, under the leadership of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Italy has been actively pursuing closer relations with Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia.
This move marks a departure from the cautious approach of previous Italian administrations, particularly regarding human rights concerns in the region.
Range of Strategic Sectors
The focus of these discussions, as stated by Italian Industry Minister Adolfo Urso, spans multiple strategic sectors. These include the automotive, mining, oil and gas, defense, hydrogen, and space industries.
